According to the publication, at a meeting of the Defense Council at the Elysee Palace, we are talking about approving Ukraine's membership in the alliance.

"Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky may be persuaded to enter into negotiations, depending on the results of the counteroffensive," the journalist writes.

At the same time, according to the author of the article, there can be no question of France allowing Ukraine to join NATO during the conflict.

Against the simplified procedure

"In order for Ukraine to join NATO, it would have to fulfill the same conditions as any other member country."

"For Ukraine to join NATO, it must meet the same criteria as any other member state."

The chief of staff of the White House replied to the relevant questions in the negative, stating that he did not intend to facilitate Ukraine's accession to NATO.

Membership is not yet possible."

"The process of Ukraine's accession to NATO cannot begin, until there are military conflicts, we must give guarantees to Kiev that the process will begin as soon as the conflict ends," Czech President Petr Pavel said earlier.

I think that the process of Ukraine's accession to NATO cannot begin as long as this conflict continues, and the Ukrainians themselves understand that this is impossible.
On the other hand, the Ukrainian people should receive assurances already at the Alliance summit in Vilnius in July that a very intensive process of Ukraine's accession to NATO will begin at the same time as the conflict ends.

Russia's position

In recent years, Russia has pushed for unprecedented NATO activity near its western borders, with NATO expanding its initiatives and supposedly "deterring Russian aggression." Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about the build-up of allied forces in Europe. The Kremlin noted that Russia does not threaten anyone, but will not ignore behavior that is potentially dangerous to its interests.

In addition, Russia noted that the West is drawing Kiev into NATO. The Kremlin said it had heard Volodymyr Zelensky's request for Ukraine to join NATO and various reactions to it.
Biden said that Ukraine will be able to meet NATO standards.
