Creating an AI Device for Cheating

In Turkey, a teenager developed an artificial intelligence device to cheat on the national TYT exam. With its help, he tried to pass the exam, but was arrested instead.

The Isparta police explained in detail the operation of this device. A camera disguised as a button read information from an exam sheet. The data was then transmitted through a modem built into the teenager’s shoes to an AI-based program. The program analyzed the information and transmitted the correct answers to the young man through an earpiece.

Strict Action Against Fraud

In Turkey, cheating on the TYT exam is considered a serious offense as this test determines a person's eligibility for admission to higher education. When observers noticed strange behavior in the teenager, they decided to examine him and discovered hidden equipment. As a result, the young man was arrested and placed in prison until the end of the trial.

The police also detained the offender's alleged partner, who was found to be in possession of a mobile phone that likely provided two-way communication. Law enforcement officers believe that it was with his help that the student received voiced answers to the test questions.

Public Reaction and Historical Analogies

Users of the social network X (formerly Twitter) noted the similarity of this case with the story of the Eudaemons group. This is a group of physicists from the University of California, Santa Cruz, who in the late seventies developed a portable device for predicting roulette spins in casinos.

Other users recalled a similar scene from the film “Operation Y and Shurik’s Other Adventures.” In one episode, a student comes to an exam with a supposedly bad tooth and wears a bandage on his face, in which he hides a radio station to help with the exam.

This incident raises important questions about the growing use of artificial intelligence technologies in various spheres of life, including education. Let us recall that Elon Musk recently threatened to ban Apple products from his companies due to the integration of ChatGPT, which also indicates large-scale discussions around AI and its impact on society.
