Distributed blockchain network MultiversX recently announced the launch of an educational initiative in partnership with eCornell, the online division of Cornell University. Dubbed the Blockchain Essentials Program, the program aims to provide knowledge about blockchain technology to students from underprivileged backgrounds.
About the Blockchain Essentials Program
The initiative, developed by MultiversX and eCornell, will offer 100 college students a two-month course in blockchain technology. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive certificates. The main goal of the program is to make education accessible to economically disadvantaged students. The course typically costs $3,750, but thanks to MultiversX's sponsorship, students will be able to take the course for free.
Format and Structure of Training
The program will be conducted online and involves training in small groups under the guidance of instructors. This format will provide individual attention to each participant and create favorable conditions for learning the material.
Notably, upon completion of the course, students will be able to receive mentorship, support, and even funding from MultiversX to develop blockchain projects that can benefit their communities.
Key Dates and Conditions of Participation
The start of the program is scheduled for July 17, 2024, and applications will be accepted until June 23, 2024. English-speaking college students who are economically disadvantaged are eligible to participate. The program is designed for only 100 participants, which makes the competition quite high.
Beniamin Mincu, CEO of MultiversX, commented on the launch of the program:
“Blockchain is an open book for anyone who wants to read it. We're still at the beginning of this story, so there's plenty of room for anyone who has innovative ideas they want to bring to life. MultiversX's collaboration with eCornell underscores our commitment to making our technology accessible to diverse communities around the world, and is just one way we can optimize developer adoption of Web3 and our ecosystem."
New Developments from MultiversX
In addition to its educational initiative, MultiversX recently introduced “Sovereign Chains,” a modular, multi-chain, integrated blockchain development stack. This innovation promises to significantly increase the transaction throughput of existing Layer 2 blockchain networks.
Sovereign Chains' initial demo showed the ability to process 77,000 transactions per second (TPS), and the company plans to increase this figure to 100,000 TPS. This improvement will significantly increase the efficiency and scalability of blockchain networks.
The launch of the Blockchain Essentials educational program from MultiversX and eCornell represents an important step in the development of blockchain education and technology accessibility. This initiative not only provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, but also supports the development of blockchain projects that can benefit society. With new technologies such as Sovereign Chains, MultiversX continues to lead the way in innovation, improving the infrastructure of blockchain networks and opening up new opportunities for users around the world.
