Cyber police of Ukraine: Combating crimes in the cryptosphere

At the Incrypted Conference 2024 event, Evgeniy Panchenko, head of the Department of Cyber Police of Ukraine, gave a report on the department’s fight against crimes related to digital assets. The event, which became part of Ukrainian Blockchain Week, brought together leading industry players, government officials and Web3 experts.
Panchenko reported solving 648 crimes in the field of cryptocurrencies. Law enforcement also identified 2,374 cases of fraud and charged 3,706 suspects, highlighting the agency's commitment to maintaining law and order.

The department actively conducts training and publishes recommendations aimed at protecting citizens from cryptocrime and other crimes. These measures are intended to raise awareness of the dangers associated with the use of digital assets.
Panchenko paid special attention to the use of cryptocurrencies to finance armed forces and the Russian army. The cyber police called on crypto market participants to actively assist in identifying and suppressing such financial flows, emphasizing the importance of this fight for the security of Ukraine.

Panchenko emphasized that cryptocurrency has the potential to both help and directly threaten national security, especially in times of war. He called for understanding and active participation in ensuring the country's security among members of the crypto community.
