Tether EDU, an innovative initiative aimed at expanding access to digital asset education, is joining forces with BTguru to develop blockchain education in Turkey. This move underscores Tether EDU's commitment to incentivize educational projects and prepare people for the digital age.

Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding

Tether EDU and BTguru recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to evaluate digital assets and educational initiatives in Turkey. Tether EDU explained its strategy as follows:

“This is part of Tether’s larger vision for Tether EDU, which aims to create a world where education is limitless and accessible to everyone, everywhere.”

The MoU with BTguru aims to develop programs that educate private and government stakeholders on the benefits of blockchain and peer-to-peer technology. The initiative will facilitate discussions with financial institutions in Turkey, explore real-world use cases for asset tokenization for banks, and explore payment network scenarios.

Expansion into the Middle East and North Africa

In addition, Tether is in discussions with regulated digital asset infrastructure platforms in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This expansion aims to improve digital asset education in Turkey and the Middle East as a whole.

Türkiye is showing significant interest in digital assets. According to the International Trade Administration and the US Department of Commerce, the country ranks fourth in the world in terms of cryptocurrency transactions. Data from Chainalysis shows that Turkey has received about $170 billion in cryptocurrency transactions since 2022, primarily driven by the need to compensate for currency devaluation.

Executive statements

Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, emphasized the importance of this partnership:

"Tether and BTguru believe in the transformative power of digital assets and peer-to-peer technologies. This memorandum of understanding can provide a strong foundation for the responsible and informed use of digital assets. We are excited to be part of a movement that can promote freedom and enlightenment for people throughout Turkey."

The goal of the memorandum is to improve digital asset education in Turkey, which can make the financial environment more inclusive and sustainable for businesses and individuals.

Can Bükülmez, partner at BTguru, added:

“We are looking to launch new businesses with Tether and evaluate the adoption of their scale in Turkish banking verticals and new digital asset businesses.”

The partnership between Tether EDU and BTguru represents an important step in the development of blockchain education in Turkey and the Middle East. The signed Memorandum of Understanding aims to create a sustainable and inclusive financial environment, promoting freedom and education of people in the field of digital assets.
