The partnership is part of the VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project, which is linked to the shock-resistant watch brand G-SHOCK and the Web3 product development studio FSL, which operates STEPN GO.
The latest collaboration will see the release of 800 NFT sneakers in four different designs.
The sneakers will be available via Raffle Mint on FSL’s NFT marketplace MOOAR from August 26 to 29.
The announcement said the sneakers will feature “various G-SHOCK brand elements,” such as colors, shapes, and designs inspired by the brand’s G-SQUAD sports watch line.
According to the teams, “these sneakers are designed not only to impress in virtual spaces, but also to highlight the brand’s cushioning properties during physical activities such as running.”
There’s also an earning option. Users earn cryptocurrency rewards in the STEPN GO app based on the distance they walk.
STEPN GO is a popular Web3 app that allows users to earn rewards for daily movement and social interactions, including buying and trading NFT sneakers.
The company has already entered into several partnerships
For example, the aforementioned VIRTUAL G-SHOCK project was launched in September 2023 to expand the G-SHOCK audience.
FSL co-founder Yaun Rong said the team is “always looking to bring more established companies and diverse intellectual properties to STEPN GO to encourage more people to learn about our Web3 applications.”
He added that the partnership with Casio is “extremely important for FSL as a whole, based on our grand vision of bringing Web3 to the masses.”
Earlier in April this year, STEPN teamed up with Adidas for the “STEPN x adidas: Step into the Future” campaign.
The partnership saw the release of a limited edition of 1,000 Solana blockchain-powered Genesis Sneakers with Adidas and STEPN co-branding.
STEPN also launched a 100 million FSL Points campaign called “pioneers” that same month ahead of the announcement of this partnership.
“The next few months will be a pivotal time for STEPN, and we’re excited to share this with our most loyal fans,” said STEPN CEO Shiti Manghani.
