The Buenos Aires Ministry of Education has partnered with the ETH Kipu Foundation to introduce Ethereum and blockchain technology into the high school curriculum.

The initiative, which puts Argentina ahead of its Latin American counterparts, aims to equip students with the skills they need to thrive in the emerging tech economy.

Starting August 27, Buenos Aires high school students will have the opportunity to complete a professional internship focused on blockchain projects.

In addition to the school curriculum, the partnership includes the development of an online course on Solidity, a programming language used to develop Ethereum applications.

The course will be available to 500 students aged 18 and over and will provide them with the tools to become active participants in the Ethereum developer community.

The training is expected to pave the way for young Argentines to develop apps that can be integrated into local business operations, which could boost the country’s economic prospects.

To ensure the success of the initiative, the ETH Kipu Foundation has also committed to training 30 teachers in a hybrid training program focused on Ethereum and blockchain technology.

While there is no word yet on whether the program will be expanded to other cities or provinces in Argentina, the current effort marks a significant step forward in the country’s embrace of digital innovation.

Earlier this year, Argentine President Javier Miley decided to exclude a proposed cryptocurrency tax law from a controversial reform package in order to speed up the approval of the reform package.

The bill, known as “Ley Ómnibus,” or the “Law of Foundations and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines,” originally included provisions that would have required taxpayers to declare their ownership of previously undisclosed assets, including cryptocurrencies.

However, Interior Minister Guillermo Francos announced the repeal of these provisions, citing the need for rapid economic development and the effectiveness of legislation as driving factors for this decision.

Argentina is currently experiencing a serious inflation crisis: the country ranks fourth in the world in terms of annual inflation at 200%.

At the same time, the country is one of the fastest growing cryptocurrency markets.
