Financial advisor Suze Orman, best-selling author and host of the podcast *Women & Money*, recently spoke about why everyone should own Bitcoin and how the next generation of investors can shape the future of cryptocurrency.
Orman’s comments came during a recent interview with CNBC, where she previously worked. Her program, *The Suze Orman Show*, ran from 2002 to 2016 and was one of the most popular financial programs on the network.
During the interview, Orman bucked the trend among her peers in the financial industry and recommended that everyone invest in Bitcoin.
According to an interview with CNBC:
“As young people start making more money and get older, [bitcoin] will become one of their preferred investments, which will drive its value up.”
Partial Optimism
While Orman is supportive of having bitcoin in her portfolio, she was cautious, saying that she only invests through a bitcoin ETF herself.
“I don’t think it will ever become a currency or a store of value,” Orman said, “but because the younger generation is so excited about it — and you see that energy — a lot of people are interested in it,” she added, “it could easily end up taking off.”
She also explained that she feels more comfortable owning an ETF “because I don’t want something like FTX to happen again.” Orman also noted that she “will never understand how wallets work, and that if you lose your passcode, you can’t get it back.”
Still, Orman’s underlying message was clear. As she told CNBC, “Everyone absolutely should have at least some bitcoin.” However, she cautions that owners need to “be prepared to lose that money,” and advises investing only what they can afford to lose.
