A recent survey conducted by a Russian financial platform showed that almost 20% of Russian citizens have already used cryptocurrency. According to the study, distributed by the TASS agency, more than 65% of respondents have heard of cryptocurrency, but do not understand it in detail.

The survey, which involved 1,200 people over 18 years old from all over Russia, revealed that interest in cryptocurrency is gradually growing among the population. Thus, 20% of the study participants reported that they have already interacted with digital assets. However, about 80% of respondents have not yet used cryptocurrency, although 15% expressed interest in trying it in the future. Of those who had already encountered crypto assets, 63% did so out of curiosity, and 19% viewed cryptocurrency as a way to save or invest. Only 2% of respondents admitted to using cryptocurrency regularly.

Despite the increased awareness of digital assets, almost 90% of survey participants do not currently own cryptocurrency. Of the few who do own crypto assets, 6% said they make up less than 10% of their savings, and only 4% said up to half of their assets are in digital form.

Russia’s attitude toward cryptocurrencies continues to evolve amid government efforts to introduce digital assets into international trade, especially in industries with potential military applications. In mid-September, it was reported that Russia had created a working group to address issues facing importers of dual-use goods due to international payment restrictions.
