Jesse Pollack, the creator of Base, has joined the Coinbase leadership team

On October 1, Pollack announced on his X page that he is now the head of the Coinbase Wallet team and is part of the company’s eight-person executive team. He will also continue to work on the development of Base.

Pollack emphasized that Base and Coinbase have the same strategic goal, and that their increased collaboration will help them achieve their common goal of making it as easy as possible for users to switch to blockchain.

“I am thrilled to be joining this team and look forward to accelerating our mission to bring a billion users and a million developers to blockchain,” Pollack wrote in his post.

In his address, he also assured that Base will remain a decentralized and open protocol for everyone. Pollack plans to implement these same democratic principles in his work with the Coinbase Wallet team.

Many crypto industry participants and analysts have praised Pollack’s appointment. A well-known analyst who goes by the pseudonym Altcoin Psycho noted that Pollack’s appointment at Coinbase gives him confidence in accelerating the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies.

According to Coinbase President and COO Emily Choi, the previous VP of Engineering, Manish Gupta, has left the company to start a new chapter in his career. Pollack will take his place.

Pollack previously led the teams responsible for developing Coinbase’s consumer and retail products from 2018 to 2021. He also helped create Coinbase Pro and Coinbase Wallet.

On August 9, 2023, Coinbase launched Base, a second-layer blockchain designed to enhance Ethereum’s capabilities in the field of decentralized applications, improve user experience, and reduce transaction costs. According to the L2Beat platform, the total value locked on Base has already exceeded $7.2 billion.
