Telegram Introduces Gifting and Verification Features, While TON Is Not Growing in Price

Despite Telegram’s recent innovations, such as the gifting feature, Toncoin has failed to show positive dynamics. At the moment, the price of TON is $5.22, which is 2.7% lower than the previous day. In addition, over the past week, the coin has lost more than 10% of its value, according to CoinGecko.
Usually, significant announcements by the company lead to an increase in the price of the cryptocurrency. However, despite a slight improvement in the market situation, TON has not changed its negative trend.
New gifting feature in Telegram
Telegram has introduced a new feature that allows users to send gifts to friends. The recipient will be able to display gifts on their profile or even convert them into “stars”. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov noted that some gifts will be available in limited quantities and that a function to convert these gifts into TON-based NFTs will be launched soon.
The company also announced a business platform that will allow verification of customer phone numbers. The complaint interface has also been improved, which will help the app’s moderators remove millions of infringing content.
Video chat and streaming support updates
Telegram has updated video chats for iOS devices, significantly improving their performance and reducing battery consumption. Now devices stay significantly cooler during long video calls, even with many participants.
Android users also received support for RTMP streaming, which was previously only available on iOS and desktop versions.
Despite these new features, Toncoin continues to perform poorly. In mid-2024, its price exceeded $8, but after Durov’s arrest, the value dropped significantly. At the moment, a slow recovery is observed.
Overall, Telegram's new features are aimed at improving user experience and interaction, but this has not affected the price of Toncoin, which continues to decline amid negative news.
