The incident was part of a series of cyberattacks that previously targeted the profiles of such well-known platforms and personalities as the streaming service Kick, the AI assistant Cursor, Worldcoin co-founder Alex Blania, the meme coin Brett, and the SocialFi app The Arena.

The hackers used phishing tactics, sending emails allegedly from X support. Users were asked to follow a malicious link to "reset access." After hacking the accounts, the attackers posted posts advertising fake tokens.

The hack of Yata Siu's account was first reported by on-chain researcher ZachXBT. He noted that the scammers used this profile to promote a token associated with an address that had appeared in similar attacks earlier.

At the time of writing, the incriminating posts had been deleted, but the incident had already caused a wide resonance.

As a background, it is worth mentioning that in November 2024, a similar scheme was used against the account of rapper Wiz Khalifa with 35.7 million subscribers. Then, the attackers used his page in X to promote another fraudulent token.

Experts emphasize the importance of users being vigilant against suspicious messages and links, especially from unknown or even trusted accounts.
