The Drift team announced the event on the X platform, highlighting the progress made in 2024. The native DRIFT token was launched last May, and the FUEL program was introduced in July as a user reward tool.
Drift users will receive DRIFT tokens as part of the second airdrop season. This initiative is aimed at stimulating growth and strengthening the protocol’s ecosystem. The team’s main goal for 2025 is to develop Drift into a super protocol that combines lending, derivatives, prediction markets, automated market making, and asset management.
The platform has made significant progress in 2024, including the integration of real assets. Support for stablecoins like USDe, PayPal USD, and Sky’s USDS, as well as the introduction of liquid staking, have helped attract new funds. Drift Earn’s products, based on trading and yield strategies, have secured millions of dollars in total value locked.
Airdrops have become a popular trend again in 2024, with many users receiving significant rewards for participating in early-stage projects. Some of the most notable airdrops of the year included shares from Hyperliquid, Starknet, and Pudgy Penguins. Open Network-based Notcoin and decentralized exchange Jupiter on Solana also stood out.
Usually, users earn tokens for activities, including migrating assets to second-layer networks, participating in protocol governance, and using their features.
The Solana ecosystem is set to see more major airdrops in 2025. These include the second round of Jupiter, the Solayer program, Sanctum S2, Sonic SVM, DeBridge S2, as well as Berachain, Karak Network, Linea, Babylon, and Hyperliquid S2 shares.
Thus, the second season of Drift promises to be a significant event for platform users and strengthen the project's position in the rapidly growing cryptocurrency ecosystem.
