Hacker groups such as Lazarus Group and Andariel continue to attack companies around the world using social engineering and malware.

According to Chainalysis, North Korean hackers were responsible for 61% of all cryptocurrency thefts in 2024. At the same time, many of the affected companies did not have information of strategic value to the DPRK. Hackers are actively introducing North Korean specialists into the ranks of crypto companies, posing as applicants from other countries.

Blockchain companies, as well as freelance exchanges, can reduce risks by organizing candidate verification and paying attention to suspicious profiles. It is recommended to establish cooperation with Crypto-ISAC and SEAL, which are created in the United States to exchange information and prevent threats. These organizations can help quickly respond to incidents and strengthen the protection of crypto companies.

The FBI previously warned that hackers from North Korea are targeting American cryptocurrency ETFs, which confirms their active interest in financial assets in the digital environment.
