Vitalik Buterin Announces Changes to the Ethereum Foundation

Vitalik Buterin emphasized that the foundation will now focus exclusively on technical aspects, giving ecosystem participants more freedom to develop it. He also advised supporters of alternative views to organize their own structures to implement their own ideas.
From now on, the Ethereum Foundation refuses to participate in political lobbying and discuss ideological issues. Issues of expanding and modernizing the ecosystem will be left to the discretion of independent developers and communities.
These steps were taken amid criticism related to the transparency of the foundation's expenses. In the spring of 2024, the organization adopted a new conflict of interest policy. This happened after several foundation employees, including Justin Drake, took positions in the EigenLayer project. Drake later apologized to the community, stepped down from his advisory role, and promised to focus entirely on his work within the Ethereum Foundation.
Buterin previously noted that any attempt to use committees or intermediaries to verify transactions is contrary to the idea of Ethereum and undermines the principle of decentralization of the blockchain.
