Rumors circulated Monday that the account was promoting a token called “CUBA,” raising suspicions that the Cuban government was behind the memecoin craze. Such tokens have seen a surge in popularity in recent weeks, especially after the price of Donald Trump-related tokens skyrocketed.

The CUBA token reportedly reached a market cap of $30 million before its value crashed. In addition, two other tokens, “Cuba Coin 2.0” and “Justice for Cuba Coin,” were also allegedly launched and crashed in less than 24 hours.

Screenshots leaked online mention another token, “CUBA 4.0,” sparking new rumors of a possible hack.

The Cuban Foreign Ministry’s X account briefly reported “difficulties” with its page before being deleted. In an X Space broadcast titled “Sorry from $CUBA,” which was hosted by the account, a representative claiming to speak on behalf of the Cuban government apologized.

The host initially denied any wrongdoing, but later reportedly shouted “Let’s go! A million MC!” before the broadcast was deleted. These events were recorded by Protos.

According to DEX Screener, CUBA initially saw a trading volume of $158.7 million, and its current market cap is $2.1 million.

There has been no official comment from the Cuban government at this time, and the ministry's account on Platform X remains disabled, leaving the situation unresolved.
