The largest stablecoin issuer, Tether, is delving deeper into the field of artificial intelligence, developing a number of innovative AI solutions, CEO Paolo Ardoino announced.

According to Ardoino, Tether Data, an AI division, is building several apps, including AI Translate, AI Voice Assistant, and AI Bitcoin Wallet Assistant. In a statement on February 4, he noted that Tether plans to launch its own open-source SDK (software development kit). The platform will be based on Bare and support a wide range of devices, from embedded systems and mobile phones to powerful servers and clusters.

While details are still scarce, Ardoino emphasized that Tether Data apps are designed to run locally on users’ devices, ensuring complete privacy and self-management of both information and finances.

A demo of the AI Bitcoin Wallet Assistant showed a user asking a “payment agent” for their BTC wallet address and current balance. They then found out which recipients were saved in their address book and sent a small amount of BTC to one of them — all within the AI chatbot, which carried out the commands automatically.

AI Translate is a tool for automatic translation, while AI Voice Assistant allows you to interact with the chatbot using voice commands.

Tether’s interest in AI technologies was evident back in 2023, when the company acquired a stake in Northern Data Group, a European cloud computing and generative AI company. In March 2024, Tether announced a global recruitment drive for artificial intelligence talent, declaring its intention to go beyond existing technologies and set new industry standards.

In December, Ardoino said he had received a draft website for the company's AI platform, with a launch planned for late Q1 2025.
