On February 17, 2025, Channel 4 will premiere the documentary project “Finding Satoshi: The Mysterious Creator of Bitcoin.” The film promises to shed light on the enigmatic figure behind the creation of the first cryptocurrency.
The creators of the film position it as an unusual journalistic investigation in the “gonzo” style, the purpose of which is to establish the identity of the person hiding under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. Executive producer Will Anderson noted that the search has turned into something more than just an attempt to reveal a specific name. While working on the film, journalists came to the conclusion that there may not be one person behind the creation of Bitcoin, but a whole group of influential representatives of Silicon Valley, pursuing their own goals, possibly related to changing the financial system and even undermining democratic foundations.
The film will be presented in two stages. It will first be released on YouTube in five 20-minute episodes. Then the material will be combined into a full-length version, which will be shown on television in early March.
This is not the first documentary project dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto. Last year, the HBO platform presented its version of the investigation, which claimed that Bitcoin Core developer Peter Todd was hiding behind the name Nakamoto. However, Todd himself categorically denied these statements and sued HBO, stating that he had nothing to do with the creation of Bitcoin.
Interest in the personality of Satoshi Nakamoto has not waned for many years, and such films only fuel discussions about who is really behind one of the largest financial revolutions of our time.
