US regulator drops Uniswap investigation

The US regulator declined to take further action against Uniswap, ending the investigation without resorting to enforcement measures. Representatives of the exchange emphasized that this outcome proves the platform's compliance with legal requirements and confirms its important role in the decentralized finance industry.
In April 2024, the exchange received an official notice of a possible investigation. The regulator suspected Uniswap of illegal activity related to the sale of unregistered securities. However, on May 21, the company sent a response in which it denied the accusations. Uniswap later issued a statement calling on the agency to refrain from trying to expand its jurisdiction to the DeFi sphere and hinder the development of decentralized finance.
This case was not the first time that the regulator dropped claims against crypto platforms. He previously closed an investigation into OpenSea, which was suspected of violating securities laws in issuing and selling NFTs.
