The US Secret Service has launched an investigation into Avwerosuo Omokri after numerous complaints from American citizens who fell victim to him. According to the investigation, Omokri created a Facebook group called the “Financial Independence Forum,” where users were offered the opportunity to retire early through “reliable investments.” As part of the scheme, participants were advised to purchase cryptocurrency and transfer it to a deposit account on the Trade Propel platform, which guaranteed high returns.

However, upon inspection, it turned out that Trade Propel was not officially registered and did not disclose its investment strategy. Instead of real information, the site posted biographies of famous entrepreneurs and claimed that the company was part of FINRA and SIPC, organizations that regulate the US financial market. The investigation found that the money received from the victims was transferred through several crypto wallets and eventually landed in a Binance account registered to Omokri's Nigerian passport.

At the request of the US Secret Service, Binance conducted an investigation, identified the account, and facilitated the seizure of the fraudster's assets. A total of 7.2 Bitcoin, 105.7 Ether, 636.11 AVAX, 14,120.99 USDT, 2,380,467,906.17 SHIB, and 319,008,151.01 PEPE were confiscated.

The US Secret Service has previously blocked illegal funds transferred into cryptocurrency as part of a major real estate fraud investigation.
