The Ethereum team had previously deployed the upgrade on the Holesky testnet, but the process was plagued with difficulties with block finalization, leading to delays. Despite these obstacles, the developers decided to stick to the planned schedule and activate Pectra on the Sepolia network.
The upgrade includes a number of improvements, including user account abstraction. This technology will allow wallets to temporarily function as smart contracts, making interaction with the network much easier. Another important innovation is the increase in the staking limit: the maximum deposit of validators will increase from 32 Ethereum (ETH) to 2048 ETH. According to the Ethereum team, this change will reduce the load on the network and increase its efficiency. It is also expected to improve the operation of nodes, which should have a positive effect on the overall stability of the blockchain.
While the Pectra update went without significant technical problems, some analysts fear that these changes could lead to Ethereum losing its deflation mechanism.
