Buterin also held on to another 5,000 DHN tokens, which are currently worth around $190,000.
The move caused the DHN token price to drop significantly, from $38.5 to $20.6. The price subsequently recovered to $43.9, but then corrected again, dropping to $39.75. Despite short-term volatility, DHN has fallen 11% in the last week, but the token has shown stunning growth over the past six months, increasing its value by 3,400,535.6%.
Vitalik Buterin has repeatedly raised the issue of transparency and accountability in the crypto industry. He has called on crypto project developers not to send him tokens, but instead to donate them to charity. In October last year, he sold 10 billion MOODENG tokens for 308.69 ETH, of which 260 ETH were donated to Kanro, a biotech platform that fights infectious diseases. In August 2024, Buterin also donated $530,000 worth of memecoins to the Effective Altruism Funds, an animal welfare organization.
Buterin has recently been critical of tokens launched by politicians. He has expressed concerns that such memecoins could become a tool for bribery and political bribery, which could threaten the credibility of crypto markets.
