According to Matt Hougan, the current time is the best in the history of Bitcoin when it comes to the ratio of risk and potential reward. He emphasizes that the cryptocurrency has gotten rid of the main threat that has long held back its development - the risk of a ban at the US government level. The recent executive order signed by Donald Trump, according to the expert, has removed this barrier, making the future of the digital asset much more stable.
"Bitcoin has previously faced many problems: technological limitations, an uncertain position of regulators, as well as the risk of harsh government intervention. Now the latter factor is excluded from the equation," Hougan said.
The expert believes that Bitcoin is the optimal alternative in case the stability of the US dollar is threatened in the future. According to him, in such a situation, cryptocurrency looks much more preferable than the Chinese yuan. At the same time, the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the United States and the active participation of institutional investors have further strengthened the position of cryptocurrency as "digital gold".
According to Bitwise Asset Management, over the past two years, the share of cryptocurrencies in client investment portfolios has grown from 1% to 3%. Hougan is confident that this is just the beginning, and the figure will soon reach 5%.
Earlier, he also drew attention to the contrast between the mood of retail investors and institutional players. Despite the pessimism among private traders, large companies are demonstrating increased interest in the cryptocurrency market. The expert regards this as a signal for a profitable purchase: a period of mistrust on the part of the general public often coincides with an opportunity to enter an asset at an attractive price.
Thus, the elimination of the main political threat, coupled with institutional recognition, makes Bitcoin an extremely attractive asset in the coming years.
