Sony Electronics Singapore has announced the launch of a new feature that allows its online store customers to pay for products using the USDC stablecoin via the Crypto.com service. This is Sony’s first foray into direct cryptocurrency transactions in Singapore and is aimed at expanding the reach of digital payments.

For now, USDC payments are available exclusively to Sony Store Online customers and are only available through Crypto.com Pay. Crypto.com Singapore CEO Chin Tah Ang noted that the partnership with Sony could significantly increase the popularity of cryptocurrency payments. Although only USDC is currently supported, more cryptocurrencies are planned for the future.

USDC issuer Circle received a license to operate in Singapore back in 2023, which has contributed to the increased availability of the stablecoin in the region.

In addition, Sony is actively developing and implementing innovative blockchain solutions. In early 2025, the company introduced a specialized network called Soneium, which runs on Ethereum L2. The project was launched through the Sony Block Solutions Labs division and is focused on supporting digital collectibles, tools for content creators, and game economics.

The Soneium network also integrated support for bridge USDC, which allowed the stablecoin to be used for transactions in various applications running on the platform. Sony has ambitious goals and plans to attract up to 200 million users by collaborating with the popular messenger LINE.

Thus, Sony Electronics continues to develop its Web3 solutions, making cryptocurrency technologies more accessible and convenient for its users. Integration with Crypto.com Pay is just the first step towards wider use of cryptocurrencies in the company's products and services.
