From April 23, Google will begin to implement an updated policy regarding the advertising of cryptocurrency services in Europe. According to the company's statement, now all advertisers promoting crypto exchanges and wallets are required to have an official license that meets the European MiCA requirements or CASP status.

In addition to complying with MiCA, companies must also take into account local legislation, including possible additional national requirements. In order to place ads on Google, it will be necessary to undergo certification confirming compliance with the new standards.

These changes will affect most European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. Google clarified that for the first violations, the advertiser will receive a warning, and the complete disabling of advertising will occur no earlier than seven days after that.

Bitget's head of legal, Hong Ng, told Cointelegraph that such a policy could have a positive impact on the market by increasing investor protection and limiting fraudulent activity. However, he also expressed concern that the new requirements would be a major obstacle for smaller companies. According to him, small participants may not be able to cope with the costs required to comply with all the regulations.

A similar position was taken by Orbs' legal counsel, noting that fulfilling the conditions of MiCA and obtaining all the necessary permits could be an overwhelming task for small projects. He also added that such changes are more likely to minimize legal risks for Google itself than to actually protect users.

Earlier, on April 7, Binance expanded its payment options by integrating Google Pay and Apple Pay thanks to a partnership with the provider Worldpay.
