PayPal payment system has announced the launch of a new rewards program for users in the United States who own its PYUSD stablecoin. The initiative is aimed at expanding the use of the digital asset and strengthening its position in the market.
According to a statement on the corporate blog, starting in the summer of 2025, PYUSD holders will be able to receive 3.7% per annum on their deposits in the PayPal and Venmo applications. The reward will be accrued in the same stablecoin daily and paid out monthly. Participation in the program is voluntary: you can join it at any time, as well as refuse.
The developers emphasize that PYUSD is not only suitable for storage, but is also actively used for payments both within the PayPal ecosystem and beyond. Users will be able to use it for transfers, including international transactions, which makes the stablecoin a more universal means of payment.
At the moment, the market capitalization of PYUSD is approaching the $867 million mark. This indicates a steady growth in interest in the asset, despite the high competition in the stablecoin sector.
Earlier in April, PayPal added support for popular blockchain platforms such as Solana and Chainlink, which expanded the capabilities of customers in the United States and neighboring regions. These steps indicate the company's desire to strengthen its presence in the crypto space and stimulate the use of its own digital solutions.
The introduction of a fixed interest program is, in fact, an attempt to make PYUSD a more attractive analogue of traditional savings products, especially for those who are already actively using the PayPal platform. It is expected that such an initiative can not only retain current users, but also attract new ones.
Thus, PayPal continues its active expansion in the field of digital finance, offering competitive conditions and encouraging users to switch to their own crypto instruments.
