The company Tether Investments, a subsidiary structure of the issuer of stablecoins Tether, expanded its participation in the capital of the Italian football club Juventus, acquiring 10.12% of shares. Thus, Tether became the largest minority shareholder of the club, which sparked an active discussion both in the crypto community and beyond.

The CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, emphasized that this is not just an investment in a sports organization, but a deeper initiative. According to him, the company intends to support projects combining sports achievements and technological innovations. He expressed confidence that Juventus is able not only to achieve success on the football field, but also to implement digital solutions that will allow the club to increase the level of interaction with fans and strengthen its financial stability.

"For us, this is not just an investment, it is a step towards a long-term partnership," Ardoino said. "We see in Juventus the potential to become a leader in the integration of new technologies into sports."

However, crypto market analysts view this step from a different angle. Some experts believe that the purchase of shares of a famous football club is a way for Tether to demonstrate its stability and seriousness to investors not connected with cryptocurrencies. This step can be especially important in the context of the company's relations with regulatory bodies.

Alex Obchakevich, the founder of the analytical platform Obchakevich Research, noted that Tether thus seeks to strengthen trust on the part of European authorities, especially in light of the new requirements dictated by the MiCA regulatory framework. He reminded that earlier the company faced restrictions on the territory of the EU, and in April of this year Binance excluded the USDT stablecoin from its European platform.

"Now that Tether has lost a significant share of its presence on the European crypto market, investments in Juventus can be seen as an attempt to regain positions - because of its sports and corporate image," the expert explained.

Thus, the acquisition of football club shares may not be so much a commercial investment as a strategic element of the plan to rehabilitate the Tether brand in the eyes of both regulators and the general public.
