FIFA has officially announced the launch of its own blockchain network, fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This initiative marks a departure from the use of third-party solutions such as Algorand and Polygon, which previously supported the FIFA Collect NFT platform.

The transition to the new blockchain infrastructure is scheduled no earlier than May 20. As noted in the FIFA statement, the new network will provide closer integration with popular EVM wallets, including MetaMask, and will create a technical base for expanding functionality and introducing new digital products.

The organization's management emphasizes that token holders or platform users do not need to take any action to participate in the migration. All necessary processes will be implemented on the FIFA side, and details on the transition procedure are promised to be revealed in the near future.

FIFA also emphasizes that the transition to its own network will allow for more flexible development of the digital asset ecosystem, including NFTs, and will also provide a sustainable infrastructure for future digital initiatives. This step is considered strategic for expanding opportunities for interaction with fans and increasing control over the technical platform.

Recall that earlier, in March, FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressed the idea of issuing its own token, which could become a universal tool for communication with the international fan community. The new blockchain could become the foundation for the implementation of this concept.

Thus, FIFA is taking a confident step towards technological independence and further expansion of its presence in the Web3 sphere.
