The Indonesian Ministry of Information and Communications has announced a temporary suspension of Worldcoin representatives in the country. This happened after receiving signals about potentially suspicious transactions related to the Worldcoin and WorldID platforms, which raised concerns about compliance with current regulations and standards for the protection of personal information.

According to the department, PT Terang Bulan Abadi and PT Sandina Abadi Nusantara, the companies representing Worldcoin and WorldID in Indonesia, have come to the attention of the regulator. The authorities plan to conduct an investigation into possible violations of licensing and registration rules, as well as the use of other people's legal data in electronic transactions. It is noted that such actions may violate local laws on the handling of personal data.

The official statement emphasizes that the suspension of operations is temporary and aimed at protecting the interests of society. The Ministry considers it necessary to ensure compliance with all regulations before allowing the resumption of work of these companies. It is also possible that the Ministry of Justice will summon representatives of the above-mentioned organizations to give official explanations regarding the violations identified.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that Worldcoin's activities have raised questions from authorities in different countries. Thus, earlier in Germany, the Bavarian Data Protection Office demanded that the project delete all biometric data collected by scanning the iris of local citizens. This incident highlights the growing concern of the global community about the platform's operating methods and possible risks to user privacy.

Against the backdrop of these events, the future of Worldcoin in Indonesia remains uncertain. The authorities intend to monitor the situation and take measures depending on the results of the investigation.
