The first cryptocurrency exchange in Tajikistan has started operating on the basis of the IT Park of Dushanbe, as reported by the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan Firdavs Tolibzoda. According to him, the new platform was created under conditions of strict regulation, which ensures the protection of market participants from financial risks, fraud and illegal activities.
Tolibzoda emphasized that for the full functioning of the exchange, a special set of rules was adopted, developed in cooperation with the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies. These rules are aimed at the security of transactions and the protection of the interests of crypto investors.
The head of the Agency Khurshed Faizullozoda noted that the launch of the crypto exchange gives Tajik private and institutional investors the opportunity to enter world markets without leaving the country. This will significantly simplify investment processes and create new prospects for the IT sector.
The new exchange is expected to boost the digital economy: jobs will appear for IT specialists, programmers, and blockchain experts. In addition, the platform will help legalize cryptocurrency turnover, reducing the risks of using digital assets in the shadow segment.
There are currently no other domestic crypto exchanges in the country, which makes the new project especially significant. According to the Innovation Agency, approximately 15% of Internet users in Tajikistan have already invested in digital assets, indicating a growing interest in cryptocurrencies among the population.
Before the opening of the national platform, users were forced to turn to international services such as Binance, Bybit, or Paxful. However, these solutions often turned out to be inconvenient: language barriers and difficulties with fiat transfers in Tajik somoni created obstacles for newcomers. The new exchange solves these problems by offering a user-friendly interface in Tajik and Russian and support for local payment systems.
Earlier, the National Bank of the country denied the participation of the Fantom Foundation and Orienbank in the project to create a digital somoni, emphasizing that the launch of the crypto exchange is not related to the development of a state cryptocurrency.
