Since May 20, the cryptocurrency service Trustee Plus has stopped accepting new users residing in Ukraine. Company representatives reported that the reason for this step was the lack of a clear legal framework in the country. The team announced its decision to temporarily abandon further study of the Ukrainian market.

At the same time, already registered Ukrainian users continue to use the wallet without restrictions, as do Ukrainian citizens permanently residing in the countries of the European Union. The exception is some functions, including a payment card developed jointly with Quicko, which are not available to all categories of users.

“If you are not a resident of a sanctioned jurisdiction, you will be able to use most of our services. But the Quicko card may not be available,” the project representatives explained.

The timing of the possible resumption of registration of Ukrainian users is not announced. According to Trustee Plus representatives, further actions will depend on changes in the legal situation in Ukraine.

Earlier, Trustee Plus CEO Vadym Grusha said in an interview with dev.ua that the company intends to focus on the European direction, since it is there that clear regulation of the cryptocurrency sphere already exists. He expressed regret that the Ukrainian authorities cannot provide legal certainty for the virtual assets sector.

“Every day that the bill remains without action is a missed opportunity to be part of the global crypto progress,” Grusha commented.

The situation worsened on May 12, when it became known that the Office of the President of Ukraine suspended consideration of the bill on cryptocurrencies for an indefinite period. According to MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, the chairman of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission Ruslan Magomedov spoke in favor of this decision.

It is worth recalling that at the end of January 2025, the Ukrainian crypto exchange Kuna announced the curtailment of its activities. And from April 30, the service completely stopped working and turned off its servers. Kuna founder Mikhail Chobanyan later shared his future plans in an interview with ForkLog as part of a podcast.
