Since May 9, BitoPro users have been experiencing difficulties withdrawing funds, especially USDT stablecoins. The platform's representatives attributed this to "technical work" without providing any further comment. During this time, the exchange's official channels remained silent, despite the growing discontent of the community.

The first warning signs were reported by blockchain analyst ZachXBT. He identified atypical movements of digital assets from BitoPro hot wallets and their sale through decentralized exchanges. The activity was recorded across several networks at once: Tron, Solana, Polygon, and Ethereum, indicating a large-scale and well-organized attack.

Further investigation revealed that the stolen tokens were sent either through Tornado Cash or Thorchain. The funds were then transferred to the Wasabi crypto mixer, making them virtually impossible to trace. Despite the obvious signs of compromise, the exchange did not make any official statements until ZachXBT went public and contacted the BitoPro team for clarification.

It took three hours after ZachXBT's post for the exchange to confirm the hack. The exchange said the incident occurred during a fund transfer as part of a "wallet system update" and affected an outdated hot wallet. However, no further details were provided on the scale of the attack or plans to compensate customers.

The BitoPro incident draws parallels with another recent hack - the Cetus protocol, based on the Sui blockchain, previously lost over $223 million, but promised to fully compensate all user losses. While BitoPro has refrained from making such statements, it remains unclear how the platform intends to cope with the aftermath of the attack and restore user trust.
