Kazakhstan launches cryptocurrency cards linked to AIFC exchanges

Kazakhstan has begun issuing cryptocurrency payment cards that work in conjunction with cryptocurrency wallets on exchanges licensed by the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC). This was announced by the press service of the National Bank.
The essence of the new instrument is that when making a payment, the user's digital assets are automatically sold on the AIFC market. The proceeds are immediately credited to the card, which allows you to pay for goods and services as with a regular bank card.
The National Bank explained that these cards are standard means of payment linked to customers' bank accounts. Thus, the settlement is made in traditional currency, but using funds stored in cryptocurrency. This became possible due to the close integration between banks and AIFC exchanges, which ensures instant conversion of crypto assets into fiat.
Throughout 2025, the Kazakh authorities plan to expand the digital financial infrastructure. Priority areas include the issuance of stablecoins backed by the national currency, the development of the digital tenge, the tokenization of financial assets, and the creation of platforms for storing, recording, and exchanging cryptocurrencies.
In addition, in May 2025, an important agreement was signed between Astana International Exchange, Solana Foundation, Jupiter, and Intebix. The parties agreed to work together to develop a dual listing model that will allow companies to simultaneously enter several trading platforms, expanding investors' access to their assets.
Thus, Kazakhstan is taking confident steps towards integrating cryptocurrencies into the traditional financial system. The introduction of cryptocurrency cards and other initiatives underscores the country's desire to become a regional leader in digital finance.
