Posta Romana has announced the launch of its first Bitcoin terminal, marking the beginning of a major program aimed at introducing cryptocurrency services to postal service branches. According to the company, such devices will soon appear in more than 5,000 locations across Romania.

The new terminal allows users to top up their Bitcoin Romania accounts using cash. Moreover, it is now possible to instantly exchange Romanian lei (RON) for Bitcoin, making it easier to access digital assets without the need for bank cards or online banking.

After the successful installation of the first device, the project is planned to expand to other cities in the country. The next on the list are Posta Romana branches in Alexandria, Piatra Neamț, Botoșani and Nădlaca, where local residents will also be able to use crypto services.

Posta Romana CEO Mihai Rusu emphasized that digitalization is a priority for the company. According to him, the postal service strives not only to keep up with technological progress, but also to actively implement innovative tools focused on the interests of customers. Particular attention is paid to settlements where access to digital financial products has been limited or completely absent until now.

At the same time, the Romanian government is developing its own strategy for regulating the cryptocurrency industry. As Finance Minister Tantzos Barna previously reported, the authorities plan to introduce stricter regulations for the digital asset market. One of the key innovations will be mandatory licensing of all participants in the crypto sector, which, according to the regulator, will help increase the level of trust and transparency in the industry.

Thus, Posta Romana's actions coincide with the national trend towards structuring and legalizing the crypto economy. Expanding the network of crypto ATMs could be an important step in ensuring equal access to digital assets for all citizens of the country, regardless of their place of residence.
