The Ministry of Finance and National Economy of Bahrain announced the launch of a joint project with Crypto Miners, a company specializing in the supply and maintenance of mining equipment. The parties agreed to create data centers equipped with modern computing power for cryptocurrency mining.

According to Finance Minister Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the launch of the project is part of the strategy to diversify the economy. He noted that, unlike other countries in the region, Bahrain does not depend on oil exports to such an extent, which means it has the opportunity to focus on alternative sources of income, including digital assets.

The sheikh emphasized that the modernization of the national energy system is an important condition for the development of the industry. Currently, with the participation of Siemens and Hitachi, the country is upgrading electrical networks and expanding the capacity of substations. This creates favorable conditions for the placement of energy-intensive mining operations.

The authorities are counting on Bahrain's competitive advantages: access to renewable energy sources, a stable investment climate, and the availability of the necessary technological base. All this makes the country attractive to foreign companies working in the field of cryptocurrency mining.

The minister previously reported that the Central Bank of Bahrain is developing a regulatory framework for regulating the stablecoin market. This is another step towards the formation of a comprehensive digital ecosystem in which mining will become an important element along with other tools of the digital economy.

Thus, the Bahraini government is demonstrating a strategic approach to the implementation of blockchain technologies and the development of the crypto market. The new government initiative not only opens the door to international partners, but can also become a model for other countries in the region seeking to reduce dependence on traditional sources of income.
