Ricardo Salinas: Bitcoin will surpass gold in value

In one of the last interviews, Ricardo Salinas expressed the opinion that the capitalization of bitcoin can eventually be compared to the capitalization of gold, which today is about $22 trillion. At the current price of bitcoin at $105,000, according to the billionaire's calculations, the cryptocurrency can grow at least eight times, reaching a mark of about $1.1 million per coin.
Salinas emphasized the impressive dynamics of Bitcoin in recent years. In 2023, the ego value increased by 156%, and in 2024 - by 121%. For comparison, gold during these same periods showed much more modest growth — 14% in 2023 and 26.59% in 2024. According to the billionaire, this level of growth of bitcoin makes it an attractive asset that can replace both traditional currencies and precious metals.
As of today, Salinas' fortune is estimated at $5.8 billion, while he allocates a significant part of his investment portfolio specifically to bitcoin. In an interview, he said that about 70% of liquid assets are accounted for by this cryptocurrency, and the remaining 30% are distributed between gold and shares of gold mining companies. At the same time, the billionaire does not invest in bonds or shares of other companies, preferring to keep capital in cryptocurrency and precious metals.
Ricardo also notes several key advantages of Bitcoin. Among them is the possibility of quick purchase and sale, as well as protection against inflation and devaluation of national currencies, which is especially relevant against the background of the instability of world financial markets.
In general, Salinas is confident that bitcoin will become the main reserve asset of the future, capable of displacing the usual fiat money and gold. His forecasts are based not only on current indicators, but also on faith in the technological potential of cryptocurrencies and their role in the global economy.
