According to a report by the French publication Le Monde, a Paris court has approved Telegram's request to relax the supervisory measures against Pavel Durov. Now the messenger's co-founder will be able to travel to Dubai once every two weeks for up to 14 days. Moreover, each such trip must be agreed upon with the judge in advance.
The relaxation of the conditions provides for a mandatory bail of 5 million euros and the obligation to report to the authorities twice a week. However, it is not specified whether this requirement applies only to the period of stay in France or also applies to visits to Dubai. All other supervision measures remain unchanged.
Durov was arrested in August 2024 and has since been awaiting a court decision on charges of aiding in money laundering, drug trafficking, and child pornography. Despite the fact that Telegram is defending its founder, the proceedings have dragged on.
Earlier, in an interview for Le Point, Durov expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation. He stated that his team had provided the court with all the necessary documents and did not understand why he was forced to remain in France awaiting a decision. He also mentioned the poor health of his parents and his desire to spend more time with them.
At the time of publication, Pavel Durov himself had not made an official statement regarding the court's decision. It is only known that he had already been granted the opportunity to travel to Dubai in March 2025, and the current decision consolidates this practice on a more regular basis.
It is noteworthy that information about the easing of supervision conditions had no effect on the Toncoin (TON) rate. The digital asset market ignored this event, despite its significance for Durov and Telegram.
Thus, the court took a certain step towards Durov, allowing him to visit Dubai under a number of conditions. However, the main restrictions remain in place and the final fate of the case remains unknown.
