At the 2025 International Forum in Kazakhstan, the new Solana economic zone was officially presented, which became part of a cooperation agreement with the Solana Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the development of the blockchain protocol of the same name. This initiative is designed to promote the establishment of Kazakhstan as a regional center for cryptocurrency and blockchain solutions.
According to the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, the creation of the zone is inspired by successful examples of international projects, such as the multi-profile commodity center in Dubai, which ensures the growth of digital assets through transparent regulation and support for innovation.
As part of the memorandum with the Solana Foundation, it is planned to launch a pilot project that provides for the integration of tokenized financial markets in Kazakhstan. Key market players will take part in this project — Astana International Exchange, Jupiter, Intebix and the Solana Foundation itself. The main objective is to introduce tokenized assets into the national financial system and create an effective platform for capital trading based on the blockchain.
At the same time, an educational program will be implemented aimed at training developers to work with the Rust language and blockchain development technologies, which will allow training professional personnel for the further development of the industry.
Digital Development Minister Zhasyan Madiyev emphasized that this project is of a strategic nature and will help Kazakhstan form a competitive digital ecosystem that stimulates innovation and economic growth.
Similar projects for the creation of blockchain zones and the development of digital assets were previously launched in the UAE, in particular in Dubai, which became an example for Kazakhstan's initiatives. Kazakhstan, focusing on the best world practices, seeks not only to increase its attractiveness to investors, but also to become a center of advanced technologies in the Central Asian region.
Thus, the creation of the Solana economic zone is an important step towards integrating blockchain technologies into the financial and educational spheres of Kazakhstan, as well as strengthening the country's position in the international arena of digital innovation.
