BitTorrent Launches Updated BTFS 4.0: Focus on Decentralization and Transparency

BitTorrent has announced the release of the beta version of BTFS Protocol 4.0, which includes innovations aimed at increasing the efficiency and stability of its decentralized file system. The update implements the BTIP-89, BTIP-90 and BTIP-91 initiatives, which strengthen security, transparency and self-governance within the network.
One of the key changes in the new version is the introduction of specialized storage nodes. These nodes provide a more reliable and scalable structure for decentralized data storage. In addition, metadata is now managed using smart contracts, which allows for the automation of many processes and reduces the human factor in management.
Integrating governance mechanisms directly into the blockchain increases trust in the system: each participant can verify the transparency of operations and the origin of data. Thanks to these measures, BTFS 4.0 becomes not just a storage network, but a full-fledged infrastructure with decentralized management and a high level of security.
BitTorrent, based on the Tron blockchain, is a decentralized peer-to-peer platform focused on file sharing. Unlike traditional services, BitTorrent does not rely on centralized servers. Users exchange data directly with each other, and anyone who downloads a file can immediately become a source for others. This architecture allows for faster downloads as the number of available "seeds" increases.
The BitTorrent ecosystem also includes a live broadcast platform where content creators and viewers can earn with tokens, participate in staking, and interact with other network participants.
The key element of the ecosystem remains the BTTC token, built on the TRC-10 standard. It is used as a means of payment for P2P services, including access to data storage, participation in auctions for bandwidth, and as a reward for services provided within the network.
The launch of BTFS 4.0 is an important step for BitTorrent towards creating a sustainable, fully decentralized environment for storing and distributing digital information.
