American musician Snoop Dogg was able to sell almost a million NFT "gifts" in just thirty minutes via the Telegram platform. This was reported by Pavel Durov, who noted that the launch coincided with the release of a new video and song Gifts, dedicated to Telegram and a new collection of digital souvenirs from the artist.
The collection included 996 thousand unique NFTs. The greatest interest was aroused by rare items - they were sold out in a matter of seconds after the start of sales. According to Durov, the entire batch was sold out in less than half an hour from the moment of release.
According to the Gift New channel, some of the most valuable “gifts” — 105 NFTs featuring Snoop Dogg’s signature West Side gesture — were sold for $33,000, which averages out to about $315 per NFT. The net profit from these transactions was nearly $17,300. In just half a minute, Telegram users purchased more than 12,000 of these “hands.”
The total revenue from the sale of the collection reached approximately $12 million. According to Durov, in three weeks, the official release of NFTs on the blockchain is planned, as well as the opening of a secondary market where owners will be able to resell their tokenized “gifts.” To buy, you can use Toncoin (TON) or “stars,” Telegram’s own currency.
Pavel Durov spoke about plans to introduce tokenized “gifts” and stickers last spring at the TOKEN2049 conference in Dubai. In June, he shared that the TON blockchain took the second position in the world in terms of NFT transactions, second only to Ethereum. The growing interest in NFTs on Telegram has prompted such well-known projects as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Azuki to launch their own collections.
Snoop Dogg's participation in the crypto industry began back in 2021, since then he has been actively supporting the NFT direction and various blockchain projects. Earlier this year, the rapper created his own channel on Telegram, where he promotes new initiatives.
As for the Toncoin (TON) rate, there was no significant growth against the backdrop of a resonant sell-off - in one day, the token rose in price by only 2.7%. The current rate remains 65% below the peak of around $8, recorded in June last year, when Telegram was booming with clicker games.
Thus, the launch of the new NFT collection confirmed the high interest of the Telegram audience in digital assets and opened up new monetization opportunities for content creators.
