SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is set to invest up to $2 billion in xAI, a company that develops artificial intelligence. According to the Wall Street Journal, the funds will be allocated as part of a large investment round totaling $10 billion. Half of this amount is expected to be provided by shares, and the other half by debt obligations.

Morgan Stanley, which joined the project in late June of this year, is organizing the fundraising. For SpaceX, this will be the first experience of direct investment in xAI capital and one of the company's largest corporate moves outside of its core business.

XAI products are already actively being implemented in SpaceX projects - for example, the Grok chatbot helps clients of the Starlink Internet service. According to the WSJ, the partnership can develop further due to deeper technological integration between the two companies.

Earlier in March, Musk handed over the rights to manage the X social network (formerly Twitter) to xAI. This decision is explained by the desire to combine databases, computing power, and proprietary technologies. According to estimates, xAI has reached $80 billion, while the X platform is valued at about $33 billion, taking into account debt obligations of $12 billion.

Interestingly, despite a number of scandals associated with harsh and controversial statements by the Grok chatbot, the startup continues to increase its influence in the AI market. In the coming months, this virtual assistant will appear in Tesla cars, expanding its presence beyond the Internet.

On July 10, Elon Musk presented a new version - Grok 4. According to him, this is "the smartest AI model to date." At the same time, the company announced the launch of a new tariff package called SuperGrok Heavy, which offers more advanced functionality. Among the key innovations of Grok 4 are improved voice interaction and updated security mechanisms.

Musk notes that despite some controversial issues, Grok will continue to develop and will gradually eliminate errors. Recently, the Decrypt publication tested Grok 4 and found that the chatbot is prone to a certain political bias, but this did not become a reason for users to abandon the new tool.

Thus, SpaceX's upcoming investment in xAI could be an important step towards even closer cooperation between space technologies and Elon Musk's advanced AI developments.
