Pump.fun, which specializes in creating Solana-based memecoins, recently surprised the market by launching the PUMP token, which raised millions in minutes. However, for one investor, this story turned into a major loss: he mistakenly destroyed his assets, confusing them with useless coins.

According to Solscan, the unlucky user used a tool to clear his wallet of tokens received in the airdrop. Along with truly unnecessary coins, PUMP was also included in this list, with a total value of up to $10 million. The mistake cost him about $75,000.

The incident caused a wide resonance in the crypto community: some joke that after this it is better to completely leave cryptocurrencies, while others remind us of the risks associated with automatic wallet cleaning. These tools often do not distinguish between valuable and spam tokens, especially if the coin has a low market value at the start.

It is curious that the PUMP token was not yet formally supposed to be traded. According to Pump.fun, the coin remains non-tradable and non-transferable until the distribution phase is completed. Only after the official announcement will holders be able to dispose of the tokens. However, users assume that some investors could have participated in early transactions on Bybit, which explains the presence of tokens in the wallet.

The sale of PUMP took place at a record speed - in just 12 minutes, large players bought up the entire volume. Apparently, it was the low starting price and controversial status that made the token “invisible” to the filter.

According to SolanaFloor, the burning operation was carried out through the Token 2022 program. The user paid a symbolic fee for the transaction - only $0.002243.

Despite the loss, part of the community notes that the situation can have a positive effect on the token rate. The reduction in the circulating supply increases the deficit, which can push the price up.

Meanwhile, Bybit has accumulated claims from investors: users complain about failures and confusion with transactions. Some even shared videos showing that orders were placed in the first seconds of the sale, but the funds were returned without explanation.

Kraken was also involved in this story. The co-founder of the exchange Arjun Sethi promised to compensate the affected users with PUMP tokens in the airdrop format as soon as they become available. The exchange is checking internal data to determine the circle of investors who encountered technical failures.

The PUMP incident clearly showed how important it is to be careful when working with crypto wallets and cleaning tools. Sometimes one careless button can cost much more than any commission.
