Hashgraph Group has introduced a new IDTrust platform designed for sovereign user identification. The project runs on the Hedera blockchain and is focused on the secure transfer, management, and verification of digital identities using artificial intelligence.

The platform is based on the SSI (self-sovereign identity) concept, which is actively supported by both government agencies and private companies around the world. In particular, the development of IDTrust coincided with the introduction of e-ID in Switzerland and the adoption of the updated eIDAS 2.0 regulation in the European Union. Also, the Vietnamese government recently announced the launch of NDAChain, a national blockchain platform for data verification.

According to Hashgraph CEO Stefan Deiss, the key technical element of IDTrust is the use of the Hedera Consensus Service mechanism, which operates without saving a state. This approach minimizes the load on the network and differs from similar solutions based on blockchains such as Polygon or Ethereum, which often have problems with scalability and resources.

Deiss noted that the platform does not require users to bind to the Hedera key structure, and the IDTrust system itself is separated from the main network. At the same time, it supports not only identification, but also authorization, which expands its capabilities compared to solutions focused only on identity verification, such as Polygon ID or Worldcoin.

In addition, IDTrust offers a fully decentralized trust model, giving users full control over their data. This distinguishes it from products of large corporations, for example, Microsoft Entra, where data management remains partially centralized.

Hashgraph is headquartered in Switzerland, and the company is already collaborating with local authorities on the integration of digital IDs. The platform is expected to be compatible with the state e-ID system, which is also being developed on the principles of SSI.

It is worth noting that in March 2025, the Hedera team already launched the EVM-compatible HashSphere blockchain, specifically designed for the needs of companies in regulated sectors. This was another step towards creating a more flexible and reliable digital infrastructure.
