Metaplanet announced the acquisition of an additional 103 BTC for $11.7 million. As a result, the total volume of digital assets on the company's balance sheet reached 18,991 BTC. At the current market rate, this package is valued at approximately $1.95 billion, with an average purchase price of $102,712 per coin. The deal was a continuation of last week, when the company invested $93 million, increasing its reserves by 775 BTC.
Metaplanet President Simon Djerovic noted that the results of the bitcoin strategy are impressive: since the beginning of the year, the company's cryptocurrency investment yield was 479.5%. In July-August alone, growth was at the level of 29.1%. This rate made Metaplanet the leader among public Asian companies in terms of bitcoin storage volumes.
The financial success of crypto investments is also reflected in stock market indicators. Metaplanet shares have gained 147.9% since January, although they have shown a 26.9% decline over the past month. At the same time, the company is also active in traditional markets: the securities are included in the FTSE Japan index, which unites large and medium-sized Japanese corporations.
In June, Metaplanet presented a three-year strategy for the formation of bitcoin reserves. According to the plan, by the end of 2025, the company expects to increase the volume of holdings to 30,000 BTC, in 2026 - to 100,000 BTC, and by 2027 - to 210,000 BTC. Thus, the company intends to control about 1% of the total issue of the first cryptocurrency.
In parallel, the company is preparing for new large investments. In early August, Metaplanet announced plans to raise $3.8 billion over the next two years. These funds are expected to be used for further Bitcoin purchases as part of a long-term strategy.
Thus, Metaplanet is building a model focused on aggressive accumulation of the digital asset. Despite fluctuations in stock prices, the company is betting that a systematic increase in Bitcoin reserves will ensure its sustainability and capitalization growth in the coming years.
The updated Metaplanet rate confirms the trend in which large Asian corporations are beginning to occupy a prominent place among global institutional investors in cryptocurrency.
