Fake pages allegedly belonging to the CEO of Edelweiss Mutual Fund have begun to appear en masse on social networks X, Instagram, Facebook, and in the WhatsApp messenger. These profiles are used to persuade users to deposit funds to a dubious platform or follow phishing links. As a result, victims risk not only losing money, but also disclosing confidential data, including access to crypto wallets.

The head of the fund emphasized that her official accounts have verification marks, and she practically does not use Facebook. She separately noted that she will never give recommendations on investing in cryptocurrencies or securities through social networks. According to her, scammers often hide behind the names of famous people in order to inspire confidence and attract victims.

The problem of fake profiles affects not only employees of financial companies. Earlier, Binance co-founder Yi He also reported on attackers who copied her pages and distributed phishing links through them. She appealed to the X administration with a request to more actively combat such accounts, as they pose a threat to millions of users.

The owner of X, Elon Musk, has also repeatedly become a target of scammers. This summer, a resident of Vietnam said that he fell for the trick of a person posing as an American billionaire. Having trusted the scammer, he transferred $10,000 and eventually lost all his funds.

Experts note that using the identities of public figures remains one of the most popular schemes of Internet scammers. Such methods help to quickly gain trust and convince people to invest money or disclose personal data.

The situation with Edelweiss Mutual Fund once again confirms that investors should carefully check sources of information, avoid clicking on dubious links and use only official company resources. Verified pages, two-factor authentication and attention to detail can help avoid financial losses.
