Robinhood Markets Inc. CEO Vlad Tenev is confident that asset tokenization will lead to global changes in the financial industry. In an interview with Bloomberg at the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore, he stated that the digitalization of assets—from stocks to real estate—has the potential to grow the market from trillions of dollars to tens of trillions. "Tokenization is a freight train that will engulf the entire financial system," he emphasized.
Tenev noted that interest in tokenization will grow when both public and private assets fully transition to blockchain technology. He expects that international markets, not the United States, will be the first to see widespread adoption. According to Robinhood CEO, digital assets will help democratize access to illiquid instruments and reduce fees for investors.
The company has already taken active steps in this direction: in June 2025, Robinhood launched its own L2 network based on Arbitrum, adapted for trading tokenized assets. However, this initiative faced criticism, including from European regulators. OpenAI also stated that it had not authorized the issuance of securities associated with its brand. Despite this, Tenev emphasized that the company has no plans to discontinue the project and plans to integrate tokenized shares into DeFi platforms.
Robinhood is also developing prediction markets. According to Tenev, event-based contracts have the potential to disrupt several industries, including media, gaming, and active trading. The company is considering expanding these products to international markets to create new forms of investment and user engagement.
Robinhood is also not neglecting traditional financial markets. In September 2025, the company became a component of the S&P 500 index, strengthening its presence among the largest US players. Index trading began on September 22, marking a significant milestone for the company's reputation and investor confidence.
Thus, according to Tenev, tokenization and digitalization of assets have the potential not only to transform the financial system but also to create new opportunities for investors worldwide, opening access to previously inaccessible markets and lowering barriers to economic participation.
Robinhood continues to actively develop new technologies and strengthen its position in traditional markets, reflecting the company's strategy of integrating innovation and long-term stability.
