Developer Geyer was attacked after attending the Token2049 crypto conference. He posted a photo on social media showing severe bruises and contusions on his face. He stated that he had already filed a police report and intended to meet with law enforcement in person to give a statement.

"I consider myself an experienced traveler, but waking up in the hospital was extremely frightening. The attack most likely occurred on the way home. My passport and ring were missing. I urge everyone to be careful at Token2049," the victim wrote.

Geyer's post prompted a response from Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. He expressed surprise that such an incident occurred in Singapore, which is considered one of the safest cities in the world. Zhao wished the developer a speedy recovery and urged all members of the crypto community to exercise caution.

The incident also drew attention to the popularity of cryptocurrencies in the region. According to a recent study by ApeX Protocol, Singapore ranks among the top countries in terms of digital asset users. In Thailand, 24.4% of the population owns cryptocurrency, and there are over 2,000 digital asset-related searches per 100,000 residents.

Experts note that the growing interest in cryptocurrencies in Asia is accompanied by increased attention to the safety of industry participants. Although Singapore is known for its low crime rate, the Geyer incident highlights the need for caution at events where significant amounts of digital assets and personal valuables are being collected.

Law enforcement officials have not yet commented on the incident. The organizers of Token2049, for their part, have pledged to strengthen security measures at future conferences and ensure participants have a comfortable and safe environment for communication and work.

This incident served as a reminder to the crypto community that even in safe cities, the risk of attacks and thefts cannot be completely eliminated. Users of digital platforms must be vigilant, and event attendees should be especially mindful of their personal safety.

The event also raises questions about how the cryptocurrency industry can respond to such incidents to protect its participants and build trust in the community as a whole.
