Argentine President Javier Miley's party, La Libertad Avanza, won a landslide victory in the midterm elections, receiving 40.68% of the vote. This result strengthened his lead and increased his chances of reelection in 2027, analysts say.

According to La Nacion, the decisive factor in his success was a surprise victory in the province of Buenos Aires, a long-standing Peronist stronghold. This success marked a turning point for Miley after his failure in the regional elections in September.

Experts believe the victory confirms public support for the president's economic liberalization agenda. The politician continues to promote market deregulation, reduced government spending, and an expanded role for the private sector. His party also actively advocates for the use of digital currencies and previously secured the legalization of contracts in Bitcoin and other crypto assets—a law that came into effect in December 2023.

Financial reforms are accompanied by improved macroeconomic indicators. In particular, Argentina concluded a $20 billion currency swap with the United States, which helped strengthen reserves and stabilize external payments. Economists note that such steps lay the foundation for the future recovery of the country's financial system.

However, Milei's political reputation was marred by a scandal involving the LIBRA token. In February 2025, after a mention of the token on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), its price soared, reaching a market capitalization of $4.6 billion, but soon plummeted by 94%. The opposition accused the president of market manipulation, claiming that the publication may have been intended to artificially inflate the price.

Milei himself denied the accusations, stating that he was merely "sharing the news." Following an investigation, the anti-corruption agency completely cleared him of any wrongdoing, but the incident significantly impacted his public image.

According to polls conducted by the Zuban Córdoba agency, the president's approval rating fell from 47% in November to 41% in March, while the share of negative opinions rose to 63%. Experts note that the survey was conducted by an organization known for its criticism of the current administration.

La Libertad Avanza's election victory demonstrates that despite political scandals, Miley maintains strong public support, particularly among free-market and cryptocurrency advocates. His policies continue to shape Argentina as one of the most open countries to digital assets in the region.
