Rapper Convicted of Bitfinex Hack Thanks Trump for Release

Rapper Heather Morgan, known by the pseudonym Razzlekhan and convicted of participating in the Bitfinex hack, posted a short video filmed in a bathroom on the social media platform X. In the 18-second clip, Morgan greeted her followers, "Razzlers," stating that she had missed them and was happy to be free again. She concluded the video by thanking Donald Trump, calling him "Papa Trump," for the reduction of her prison sentence and the early release.
According to Morgan, she was released about a month ago after serving eight months of her 18-month sentence. She concluded the video with her signature gesture—raising her hand and sticking out her tongue.
However, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons database, Morgan is still listed as an inmate. She is currently being held at the Sacramento Reintegration Center (RRM), where inmates are prepared for reentry into mainstream society. These facilities provide inmates with rehabilitation before their eventual release to reduce the risk of reoffending. Morgan's official release date is scheduled for January 12, 2026.
As a reminder, in November 2024, a court sentenced Heather Morgan to 18 months in prison for her role in the theft of 120,000 bitcoins stolen from the Bitfinex exchange. According to the prosecution, her husband, Ilya Lichtenstein, orchestrated the hack, and the couple then laundered the stolen digital assets.
The investigation established that Lichtenstein was responsible for the technical aspects of the hack, while Morgan helped conceal the origin of the funds through a network of shell companies and transactions. According to prosecutors, this case has become one of the largest cryptocurrency laundering cases in US history.
The court sentenced Ilya Lichtenstein to five years in prison. US authorities emphasized that the case of the Morgan and Lichtenstein couple demonstrates the government's seriousness in combating cybercrime and illegal digital asset schemes.
Heather Morgan, who prior to her arrest positioned herself as a rapper, entrepreneur, and columnist, became known for her eccentric style and flamboyant performances.
