The 1inch platform announced it has received two key international certifications—ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 1—becoming the first DeFi ecosystem to undergo such certification. These standards confirm a high level of corporate governance and information security, bringing the decentralized finance sector closer to the requirements of traditional financial institutions.
The certificates were issued to a subsidiary, Degensoft Ltd., registered in the United Arab Emirates. Project representatives emphasized that this step strengthens 1inch's position as a reliable market participant and contributes to building trust among institutional partners.
As part of its new strategy following the rebrand, 1inch aims to unite the world of DeFi with traditional finance. The team focuses on regulatory compliance and compatibility with banking institutions to create an infrastructure ready for collaboration with corporate clients and financial institutions.
Until now, ISO and SOC standards were primarily used by centralized companies such as Binance, Coinbase, Trust Wallet, and Chainlink Labs. Now, 1inch has become the first decentralized finance project to officially achieve this level of compliance, demonstrating a serious approach to security and compliance.
The ISO 27001 standard confirms that a company has implemented a comprehensive information security management system and has completed a two-stage audit. Meanwhile, SOC 2 Type 1 evaluates the quality of internal processes, risk control, and the reliability of management procedures. For the DeFi industry, this is an important signal of its transition from experimental solutions to mature financial products.
1inch co-founder Sergey Kunz noted that talk of the convergence of DeFi and traditional finance has been going on for a long time, but only a few companies are taking real steps in this direction. According to him, the implementation of international standards does not contradict the ideas of decentralization, but rather helps find common ground with banks and institutional structures.
The 1inch team expressed its willingness to share its certification experience with other projects, believing this will help improve the overall level of corporate responsibility and transparency in the industry.
To prepare for certification and conduct the audit, the project collaborated with zeroShadow and Prescient Security LLC. The former developed the control system and documentation, while Prescient Security LLC acted as an independent auditor, confirming compliance of all processes with international standards.
With this step, 1inch not only strengthened its reputation as a leader among DeFi projects but also brought the entire industry closer to recognition from institutional investors.
